Botham Walk

Day 5: Stratford upon Avon - Charlecote House

Date of walk: 14 October 2008

Charlecote Park

The home of the Lucy family for over 700 years, the mellow brickwork and great chimneys of Charlecote seem to sum up the very essence of Tudor England. There are strong associations with both Queen Elizabeth I and Shakespeare, who knew the house well – he is alleged to have been caught poaching the estate deer. The balustraded formal garden opens on to a fine deer park where Beefy will lead this 4 mile walk.
